I grabbed the Marvel Presents or Spotlight or whatever that featured the original four Guardians, and thought it was OK. Then I read the modern take when it came out and was blown away. Must be all the Warhammer 40k connections!Timbotronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14155415053493998982noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5314000980489875634.post-34937529333027707332014-08-04T13:03:46.906-05:002014-08-04T13:03:46.906-05:00A fun action-adventure movie but the genre and the...A fun action-adventure movie but the genre and the medium pale in comparison to my discovery of Steve Gerber's Guardians material.

I picked up Marvel's reprint of the Guardians' early appearances and that's sticking with me way more than the movie. I'm versed in DnA's stuff but I'd never gone back and read the the original Guardians' stories.

For some reason my recollection gets spotty for the last half hour of these films when they push thru the minibosses and have the big knock-down, drag-out with the big bad and predictably beat them.

The movies are okay but the comics give me that feeling I've always had that somebody is telling a story that's unpredictable and wild and weird and for me. It's probably unfair to compare it but for some reason I'm not feeling the fervor for the movies that the internet has.

Still a fun movie though!Dereknoreply@blogger.com
